Osun Osogbo festival is a traditional celebration that is over 600 years old in Osun state, Nigeria. The festival is the biggest annual traditional religious event of the Yoruba people. The main attraction of the festival is the Arugba (calabash carrier), a virgin woman who leads a procession of Osun worshippers to offer sacrifices to the river and help them communicate with the deity. The Arugba has a large calabash on her head with her face covered.
